Nuke began as the in-house composting and effects application at Digital Domain, where its development team were awarded a Technical Achievement Award® from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science®. Used in over 55 feature films and hundreds of commercials and music videos, including
Speed Racer, The Golden Compass, ice age (Dawn of the Dinosaurs) and King Kong. In February 2008 Nuke 5 was released with an entirely new user interface.
Our special guest is
Mr Matt Plec.
Matt Plec has filled a variety of roles in the post production industry, ranging from composting and 3D animation to software and pipeline development. His experience include holding position at Sony Pictures' prototype High Definition post production studio on the lot in Culver City and from there to other freelance and staff positions at studios including Atomix, D-Rez, and Rhythm & Hues before he joined Nothing Real, the company that created
Shake. Following Apple's acquisition of Nothing Real, Matt moved on to
ESC Entertainment, taking responsibility for the 2D pipeline while the studio worked on the
Matrix sequels and
Constantine, among other films. Matt signed on at
Sony Pictures Imageworks as a
Senior Technical Director and quickly found himself part of the team developing the company's next generation lighting and composting package. In 2007 he joined
The Foundry to head up the company's Nuke development effort during the product's transition from Digital Domain. Matt's extensive experience both in production and developing tools for production artists gives him a unique perspective.

This is a unique experience to have Mr Matt Plec showing us Nuke in Action, for the first time in Hong Kong! Don't miss it.
So See ya There.
